Xero Competition and Adam Jones have decided to pull out of this weekend’s Snetterton BTCC meeting in order to focus on developments that should see the Lexus much more competitive next time out at Knockhill.
Despite an increase in sponsorship from Air Cool Engineering and a new sponsor to be unveiled for the final two rounds, the team has decided the best interest would be to miss the next race and concentrate on having the latest batch of modifications fully tested and race-ready in time for Knockhill, which should favour the Jones/Lexus combination.
On hearing of the decision Adam said “Obviously as a racing driver I am hugely dissapointed especially as Snetterton is one of the few UK tracks I know, but the Oulton test taught us a lot about the car and it is important that we put that knowledge to good effect and the gap between now and Knockhill should allow the guys at the workshop the time to get everything ready.”
As a result of Xero’s withdrawal from this weekend’s racing, the number of cars lining up to take the start of Snetterton’s BTCC races is likely to be 21.
