The BTCC heads to Snetterton in Norfolk in just over two weeks time for Rounds 16, 17 and 18 of the championship on the 12th and 13th of July.
The meeting follows on from two days of testing that most BTCC teams took part in on the 24th and 25th of June. Positioned exactly half way through the 2008 season the test will have allowed teams to test new set ups and many will be hoping to be hot on the pace at the Snetterton rounds.
SEAT, who dominated all four sessions by occupying the top two positions, are already feeling confident. Plato, who topped 3 of the 4 sessions, told BTCC.net “We’ve been working on some development items which clearly have helped but the circuit layout clearly favours our diesel turbo package, too. Our lap times were very strong and consistent. We worked on getting two good set-ups: one for qualifying and the other for the races and now we should be in good shape for both. Certainly, we will be starting the race weekend at Snetterton on the front foot.”
“It could be a strong one for us,” added Plato. “It is a power circuit with two long straights, so we could be very strong there and one of the pacesetters.”
Snetterton may not be the fastest circuit in the country (that honour goes to Thruxton) but it does have the longest straight in the Revett Straight, and the SEAT Leon Diesel will be one of the strongest cars out of the corners into the straights, thanks to its superior torque.
Snetterton has a habit of producing action packed races, and has seen some of the most exciting spectacles the BTCC has ever had. Whether it was the night races in 1999 and 2000, or the fact that its calendar date in the summer makes it a warm and pleasant place, on raceday you can expect an enjoyable day.
Tickets are now on sale for the event, and if you book your tickets before 12:00 on Wednesday July 9 you can save more than 20% of the on-the-gate price, making it only £22. Click here to book online at MotorsportVision.co.uk.
