newcar2aAdam Jones is to join Dan Eaves at Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing for 2009. The move means that Jones will be leaving the GR Asia team who he has raced with under the Team Air Cool banner for the past two seasons.

Jones will therefore continue to race a SEAT Leon this year, and hopes to build upon the experience of 2008, which saw him claim five outright podium finishes. “It’s great to be driving for the team this coming season”, said Jones. “They have been working flat out to get on the grid and I’m sure we will be very competitive and hit the ground running, I’m looking forward to having a team mate for the first time in the BTCC and I’m sure we will push each other throughout the season and surprise a few people along the way.”

Jones replaces Phiroze Bilimoria in the team, who had been lined up to race the second car until parting ways with the team. His experienced team mate will be Dan Eaves, who last raced in the BTCC in 2005. Eaves commented: “It’s good to have Adam as a team mate, his experience of the car is going to be very useful to me and the team. I’m sure with the two of us on the grid we will get some good results.”

Whilst Jones does have experience of racing the petrol powered SEAT Leon, he will have to get used to a new fuel as for 2009 the team is intending to run the “fuel of the future” - bio ethanol. However betwen Jones and Eaves the team has two very experienced drivers and will be hoping to make an immediate impression when the season kicks off.

Team boss Colin Neill added: “I am delighted that Adam has come on board and joined Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing. Adam had a fantastic season last year and will be a real asset to the team. Adam and Dan are totally focused on the season ahead. Both drivers have set themselves some realistic goals in their first season together and where they want to be. The team are totally focused on the first round at Brands Hatch in April and are currently preparing the cars for our first test day.”
