The Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing team had plenty to celebrate about after Brands Hatch, with each of the days races seeing the cars come home in points-paying positions.
Qualifying saw the cars set the 10th and 12th fastest times, with Adam Jones using his experience of the SEAT Leon chassis to edge experienced team mate Dan Eaves. Both drivers managed to dramatically improve on their starting positions in the first race of the day and Jones finished fifth with Eaves in ninth.
Race two saw the cars finish in tandem with strong drives once again from both drivers as Jones lead Eaves accross the line in 7th and 8th respectively. The reverse grid for the final race then saw both drivers handed generous grid positions with Eaves lining up third and Jones in fourth. Whilst these positions could not be held for the whole race, Eaves managed to finally beat Jones and they finished in 6th and 7th.
Colin Neill (Team Principal) said: “It’s fantastic, both drivers did a really well to bring the cars home with points in every race. It’s a credit to all the hard work and long days the team has put in, it’s a great result for us and our fans. I’d personally like to thank every member of the team for their commitment and dedication.”
Adam Jones, who now sits in a very strong 6th position in the driver’s championship, added: “If you told me last night (Saturday) that I would be in 6th overall and the team 4th, I would have said it was as likely as Birmingham City winning the FA Cup, but this is the BTCC and anything can happen”.
Dan Eaves also commented: “It was a good result, the priority was to try and keep out of too much trouble, learn the car, bring it home in one piece and bag some points, I can’t wait to get out for the next round.”
Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing are now preparing for their second-ever BTCC meeting which will take place at Thruxton on the 25/26th April. They will be hoping for continued speed and reliability at the fast Hampshire circuit, where last year the SEAT Leon was a race-winner with Jason Plato, albeit in diesel and works guise.
