Tom Onslow-Cole is a surprise last-minute replacement for Team Aon driver Alan Morrison at Croft this weekend. Onslow-Cole has been sat out for the season so far after failing to find a drive following his year with VX Racing last year. He was scheduled to drive the Doctor’s car this weekend, but a last-minute offer from Team Aon boss Mike Earle will put him right in the thick of the action.
“It’s come as a bit of a shock,” Onslow-Cole told btcc.net. “I’d only just got out of bed at 8 o’ clock this morning when I got the call. I got here like a shot!
“I’m in Alan’s race suit which thankfully fits me and the seat seems to fit as well. It’s just a great opportunity – the timing couldn’t be better because the team is making such great progress with the car. I’ve just been told to get into it and drive and don’t bend it!”
Team Aon boss Mike Earle added: “Alan has had to miss this one due to personal reasons. Tom was around and is a great replacement. But we don’t expect him to win it on the first lap – he’s been out of racing since the end of last season.”
