Colin Turkington has extended his championship lead as Team RAC take their second 1-2 finish this afternoon in Round 14. It marks the Northern Irishman’s fifth victory of the season as he continues his winning form. Once again finishing in third was Racing Silverline’s Jason Plato.

Rob Collard finished in fourth, despite getting a superb start to pass Plato and challenge Stephen Jelley for second. Finishing fifth was again VX Racing’s Fabrizio Giovanardi, followed by his team-mate Matt Neal making the top six finishers exactly the same as in the first of today’s races.
It took Plato until lap 10 to eventually find a way past the Airwaves BMW of Collard, although by this point it was too late to challenge the RAC BMW’s. Collard then had to withstand pressure from Giovanardi, although he managed to hold on to fourth by the flag.
Finishing in seventh was Andrew Jordan, meaning that all three Vauxhall drivers finished in formation. Adam Jones finished in eighth, making up for his race one disappointment and gaining eight places from his grid position. Also making up a couple of positions from his race one result was local James Thompson who finished in ninth.
Rounding out the top ten was Paul O’Neill, who took his second points finish of the day after a race-long battle with Thompson for ninth. O’Neill is the one with the last laugh however, as he has been randomly selected to start the final race of the day from pole position, with Thompson alongside.
An early retirement was Jonathan Adam, who was forced to retire after his car slowed with engine problems on lap 2.
Both Tom Chilton and Dan Eaves were unable to make the start of the race as their teams frantically work to repair the damage caused in race one. Chilton’s Ford Focus ST sustained heavy damage after contact with Vaulkhard, although the team are confident of getting him out for race three. Eaves on the other hand will not be starting any more races today as his poor season continues. The second Team Aon Focus of Tom Onslow-Cole also failed to finish the race after engine troubles.
Non-starters for this race and the next were Mat Jackson, who is suffering from food poisoning, and Harry Vaulkhard, whose car has been written off after his race 1 accident.
