After only competing a part-season in the BTCC in 2007 Adam Jones steps up to race in every round of the 2008 BTCC using a SEAT Leon. Despite showing speed and promise during the 2007 BTCC Season, Jones was always only going to be able to run a part-season due to the team, GR Asia's, commitments to running in the World Touring Car Championship. When he did race he showed promise in the ex-works SEAT Toledo, taking a thoroughly deserved podium finish at Donington Park mid-season. Jones stays with GR Asia for 2008 with the team fully committed to racing in every round of the BTCC.
Advertisment
Like many racing drivers, Adam Jones started his racing career in karting before moving on to car racing in 1998. He won the several scholarships and championships in France between 1998 and 2000 before moving back to the UK to compete in GT racing. In 2001 Jones competed a part-season in the British GT Championship racing a Porsche GT3 whilst also managing outings in the FIA GT championship and Formula 3 testing. His career would remain full of part-season efforts throughout the next few years as Jones continued to compete mostly in GT racing.
Jones made his BTCC debut in 2006 racing a S2000 spec Lexus IS200 for Xero Competition. The car struggled throughout the season with a lack of pace and Xero did not return to the BTCC grid in 2007. As a result, Jones was left to look elsewhere for a drive and so ended up at GR Asia in the much more competitive SEAT Toledo. He combined his 2007 BTCC part-season with a 4 race effort in the British GT Championship in Team Modena's Lamborghini Gallardo, scoring a best result of 3rd.

For 2008 Jones is looking to step up a gear in the BTCC with a full season ahead and the ability to participate in testing, unlike in 2007. "It is exciting to know we will have a more competitive car and will do all ten rounds," he told Crash.net. "We want to try and win something." With the works SEAT team running a diesel engine, Jones' Leon is the only one on the grid running a petrol engine. He continues with backer Air Cool Engineering as he looks to fight for the Independent Drivers Championship after finishing 5th in it in 2007.
