For 2009... |
Another new team for 2009, Clyde Valley Racing were formed for the sole purpose of competing in the BTCC. Racing under the banner of Cartridge World Carbon Zero Racing, the team are aiming to set a new standard for environmentally friendly motorsport. Indeed they will be the first and only racing team in Europe to adopt a carbon-zero, environmentally friendly approach.
Cylde Valley Racing is headed by Colin Neill and based in Glasgow, Scotland. The team had originally planned to enter the 2007 BTCC with a pair of bio-ethanol powered Chevrolet Lacetti's, but was forced to put its plans on hold after a major sponsorship deal fell through. They hace since secured backing from Cartridge World to enable them to enter two cars into this year's championship.
Team principal Colin Neill is aware of the scale of the challenge ahead, but is confident that the team will be able to fight amongst the front of the independent teams in 2009. Indeed with drivers Dan Eaves (a former independents champion) and Adam Jones they have proven race-winning and front-running driver ability on board. Jones in particular is looking to take his first win this year and believes Team CVR are capable of taking him to the top step of the podium.
The SEAT Leon models campaigned by the team are ex-World Touring Car Championship models from the 2008 season. In order to run on the E85 biofuel that the team will use they have received ECU information direct from SEAT in Spain.
The team hasn't been seen testing as much as some other teams, and missed the official pre-season Brands Hatch test. They were present at the Rockingham media day but encountered problems with one of the cars, forcing Jones and Eaves to share the same machine. |
