For 2009...

Team RAC, run by West Surrey Racing, return for a third consecutive year with their BMW 320si cars. The team go into 2009 with continuity most definitely on their side as Colin Turkington begins his seventh season with the team and Stephen Jelley returns for another year.

During the winter the team has rebuilt its BMW's and undertaken testing at several UK circuits in preparation for the new season. After claiming the Independent Drivers and Teams championships last year for the second year in a row the team are aiming to go one better in 2009 and take the overall drivers title away from Fabrizio Giovanardi and Vauxhall.

Colin Turkington has already shown good speed in testing and topped the times at the official media day in March. Both Giovanardi and Matt Neal rate Turkington as one of their main competitors for the overall title and he will be one to watch in 2009 as he seeks his first BTCC drivers championship.

After claiming his first pole position in the last meeting of 2008 at Brands Hatch Stephen Jelley starts 2009 hungry for more. The 26-year-old is confident of some strong performances and has been working out through the winter. He has shown good pace in testing, closely matching team-mate Turkington.

West Surrey Racing have never won the overall drivers or teams championships and will be looking to use the continuity in the team to achieve this in 2009. For the last 4 years the team have finished 4th overall in the teams championships and will face some stiff competition from the likes of VX Racing, Airwaves BMW, Team Dynamics and Tempus Sport through the year.
